For policy changes, submit a new filing (SR-22). A cancellation (SR-26) is not required unless the policy is canceled or terminated. A filing will remain in force for 3 years or until an SR-26 is received. |
State-Specific Details
Name matching: All filings must include the exact name and driver's license number listed on the suspension judgement.
Out-of-state drivers: For out-of-state drivers who require an SR-22 with the Maine BMV, a customer number is not assigned, and the filer should include the out-of-state driver's license number in the filing.
Effective From date: Does not need to match the Certificate date, but the certificate may be rejected if the certification date precedes the policy effective date.
